Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway with your partner or a ladies weekend, Breckenridge has something for everyone.
Two weeks ago I spent the weekend in Breckenridge with four of my friends. They all flew in to Denver from NYC & Boston on a Friday and flew out on Monday. The first item to tackle was “How are we getting to Breckenridge“, since I don’t have a car!
Getting to Breckenridge 101
As you know, I live in Denver, Colorado. Breckenridge is a 1.5 hour drive from downtown Denver to Main St in Breckenridge. If you live in the Denver area or you’re flying in from out of town, there are a handful of ways to get from point A to point B.
Shuttle from the Denver airport to downtown Breckenridge (Total Time: 2-3 hours)
Shuttle Services from Denver to Breckenridge and vice versa:
- Summit Express – Create a reservation online for up to 14 people
- Epic Mountain Express – Create a reservation online for up to 12 people
- Kids under 12 ride for 50% off!
- Fresh Tracks Transportation – Create a reservation online for up to 11 people
All three of these options are competitively priced so you’ll be looking at similar rates across the board. For a group of 5, expect to pay $260-$350 each way. You will also have plenty of room for your ski bags and luggage. Standard rule is 2 items per person plus a small personal item.
Uber from the Denver Union Station to downtown Breckenridge (Total Time: 1.5-2 hours)
Ubers to Breckenridge from Union Station are cheaper than taking an Uber from the airport. Take the 35 minute train from the airport to Union Station for $10.
However, if you don’t need to pick up snacks and party materials (much cheaper in Denver) and you’re not meeting anyone in Denver prior to leaving, then just Uber with your group from the airport if you don’t feel like checking out Denver (BUT, you should!!! Denver is a ball of happiness).
- UberX: $90 – $110 each way (fits up to 4 people)
- UberXL: $138 – $185 each way (fits up to 6 people)
Our group of 5 took an Uber XL both ways (fits up to 6 people) and fit loads of luggage and ski stuff into the car perfectly.
Rent a car (Total Time: 1.5-2 hours)
We decided the rental car option didn’t make sense for our group as we stayed in a cabin that was a 10 minute walk to Main St. Breckenridge also provides great public transportation that will take you from one peak to another. To get to Peak 8, we walked a few feet outside of our door and that’s where the bus stop was. It’s SO EASY!
If you rent a car and use it to get to the slopes, you’ll likely be paying a bit of parking fees. Plus the car is going to get very wet and dirty with ski gear)
PRO TIP: Do you have a Costco membership? If the answer is yes, rent your rental cars through Costco. It’s exponentially cheaper.
So, don’t stress if you don’t have a car! Colorado makes it incredibly simple to get to Denver to Breckenridge. Now go ski til your heart’s content.
