Of 105 trails located in Boulder Open Space, The Royal Arch Trail ranks #1 with its unbeatable views. This is about a 30-40 minute drive (26.5 miles) from Downtown Denver.

Difficulty level: Hard
Elevation Gain: 1,377
Temperature: 82 degrees
Summary:The Royal Arch Trail is a dog friendly trail which is usually only 3 miles, but we went the wrong way making it closer to 5-6 miles. This is also supposed to be an out and back trail, but we did more of a loop. There are options!
TIP: Make sure you pack enough water. For this hike, we only brought one pack and ran out of water about 30 minutes away from the top. I didn’t love that. Feel free to pack a couple of beers, too 🙂
Location: Foolish Craigs Cafe (Boulder, CO) established 1998
Beer: Avery White Rascal – Belgian Style White Ale
Beer Review: My Grandad drinks these when he’s in Boulder & Denver, so I had to sip on one in Boulder, too after a hot hike. As Avery Brewing Co would say, the White Rascal is “an authentic Belgian style white ale, this Rascal is unfiltered and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curaçao orange peel producing a refreshingly zesty classic ale”.
