Top line- Male or Female?

  • Answer: Female, DUH. Women are searching much more (& much earlier) than men for the perfectly heartwarming gift this chilly month of love for their honey buns.  BOYS: of you’re not in the mood to celebrate SAD (singles awareness day), start changing this trend!

Valentine’s Day is also called Saint Valentine’s Day and it’s a holiday that’s celebrated all over the world as it originated from a roman festival that occurred from February 13th-15th (rumor has it).

STEP 1: This festival consisted of a goat and a dog being sacrificed for men to whip women with the hides of the goat and dog…… Happy love day! Women didn’t protest the whipping acts, they actually believed the series of whips on their skin via the skin of an animal would make them fertile.

STEP 2: Next on the agenda: matchmaking. After the whipping commenced, the women through their names in a gauntlet of love and the young men would get to draw a name. The new pair was then coupled for the remainder of the festival. If it was a perfect match, their love would carry past the festival doors.

There are other theories of how Valentine’s day came about, but I thought I’d torture your mind before the holiday.

STEP 3: Down the road, good ole Shakespeare picks up his feather pen and takes over Valentine’s day, making it much sweeter than the Romans. Gotta love a Brit.

“Hear my soul speak:
The very instant that I saw you, did
My heart fly to your service.”    -The Tempest

STEP 4: Kansas City, MO jumped on the Valentine’s Day bandwagon in 1913 and the day of love has never been the same since!

Hallmark sells over 144 million V-day cards a year.
